What happened to the glamour of air travel, when people used to pride themselves in looking fine in flight? I suppose it disappeared with Pan Am airlines. As Tina Fey put it, "What's wrong with this country? We wear flip flops to church."

In the Streets
The first documentary by British street artist Banksy was released last month in the U.S. Although I haven’t seen Exit Through the Gift Shop, I read a review claiming it was bit convoluted. What else would you expect from this phantom tagger? The movie is an indirect portrait of the anarchist, Banksy and his American counterpart, Shepherd Fairey, whose work has had huge political impact (ie: the Obama Hope image that helped win the election). What’s most interesting is not so much the actual imagery but these artist's ability to make politically charged statements with simple, stenciled imagery. Propaganda in Warhol-esque proportions.

El Nino de las PInturas is less well-known street artist working in el Realejo neighborhood in Granada, Spain. I stumbled upon his murals, which line an entire street, while wandering around the city in 2009. These are some photos I took of his beautiful work. Like Banksy and Fairy, he is changing public attitudes toward street art, making it more widely accepted and appreciated.
