With the resurgence of all things 1980's from wayfarers to leotards, I decided to raid my mom's closet in search of treasures she has kept and not looked at, let alone worn in 15 years. Luckily for me, she takes impeccable care of her things. I surfaced with a silk kimono from Japan, 3 button down shirts, and this little gem, a long sleeved knit with jagged mesh top from 1981. SCORE.
Slightly reminiscent of a figure skater's top? meybe. The trick is to mix and match these vintage items with more contemporary ones (ie: low cut jeans) so as to not completely regurgitate the look of 25 years ago, but rather combine to create whole new looks. The point is to pay tribute to the past while still exemplifying the here and now.
...and now for a tribute to Phillipe Halsman,
The Joys of Jumpology
